Why boxing? Boxing can help improve heart health, body composition, and strength, lower’s blood pressure, and aid’s weight loss. More than anything, boxing is a fun way to get exercise and release stress. When you are doing mitt or bag work your brain increases the production of endorphins, the neurotransmitters that create feel-good thoughts. Punching helps to relieve muscle tension that can collect when you experience stress. Regardless of fitness level boxing is a way to mix up a fitness routine.
Why do our personal trainers love boxing? Our personal trainer Alec says, “Boxing helps with mindfulness it forces you to be present and in the moment because you have to focus on combinations. I enjoy boxing as a regular part of my fitness routine because it allows me to mix it up while getting out some aggression. There is nothing like a good spar to get my heart rate up.”
What skills do you need to start boxing? Good news! Anyone can box! Our trainers recommend that you have the proper equipment, boxing gloves, and wraps (which they van gave give you specific recommendations and where to buy). Besides that our personal trainers recommend a willingness to learn, a positive attitude, and focus. Our personal trainer Neil says, “ I have several clients that have added boxing as a part of their fitness routine, and they love it! I also recommend it to anyone that wants to try something new while getting a killer workout”!
